Theater Weeks continue

I survived first week.  Now I am deep into second week.  This week is a little easier in all I really have to do is relabel costumes.  A couple of kids I have to fit, but not too bad.  Everything is created.  I just need to glue a feather here and there instead of everywhere.  Last week I got news my great aunt passed away.  She is really on my great aunt by marriage (my dad's second wife's aunt), but I spent a fair amount of time in my adult years with her.  I would take my sister over there (after her parents got divorce. same dad different mom) and we would have the best time.  She was pretty much blind.  She had the hardest time seeing the buttons on her giant (2 inch) button phone.  She was soo funny though. Always trying to feed us potted ham that was 2 years out of date.  We would go through and throw away all her outdated food and fix things she couldn't see.  We would always do this discreetly, we didn't want to hurt her feelings.  The funeral was Saturday.  None of our branch of the family tree could attend the funeral (they are all out of state), so I went to represent the family.  The only person I knew in the entire place was the deceased.  I had seen pictures of the family, but only their formal high school  senior portraits and some were taken in the seventies.  I got a few looks from people trying to figure out who I was.  It was a beautiful funeral and I will greatly miss her.

The opening weekend of shows went well.  There were a few missed cues on both nights, but overall these kids did awesome.  Costuming wise, everyone looked spectacular and I got a lot of compliments. This week is a new cast.  My daughter is in this cast, so I am looking forward to seeing her parts.

My husband signed us up for a gym yesterday.  I have been meaning to, but I have been slightly busy.  I am glad I have it, but I am incredibly intimidated by the gym.  I don't really know how to use the machines, and I desperately want to tone muscles.  I think I will go with him the first couple of times.

Back in May, my daughter auditioned for an orchestra called Sinfonia.  It is under the prestigious Oklahoma Youth Orchestra.  She got her congratulatory letter yesterday.  She made it!!  I am so very proud of her.  I cannot wait to see how much she improves with this orchestra.

Thanks to Jasmine and Lizzy, I have really wanted to just paint my nails and make them as beautiful as theirs are.  I bought some of Sally Hansen's fuzzy nail polish.  I love the way my nails turned out.  They almost look like chocolate ice cream with sprinkles.

It's only Tuesday, but it's already been a long week.  We got word last night that my husband's great grandma passed away.  The funeral is out of state, so I am not sure if he is going to go.  He talked to his grandma for a long time on the phone last night.  She, of course, is taking it very hard.  I am so glad that  I got a picture of all 5 generations of my husband's family before his dad, and now his great grandma passed away.
Elexis, my husband, his dad (who passed away Oct. 2002), his grandma, and his great grandma.

Ok, off to find my daughter pants (she is the only one I haven't costumed...the irony).

On a side note:  I am just so thankful I started this blog.  I have gotten to know some pretty wonderful people through the challenges I have done.  I would genuinely call you guys my friends.  I love getting to know every single one of you and finding how much we have in common, but still diverse.  So a huge THANK YOU to all of you for being my friend.  I truly appreciate every single one of you.

    1. I got mine at Target. They are on sale this week for almost a dollar off. I am ready to go to Sephora and get the one Lizzy reviewed on her blog. I am very envious of both of your polish collections and your talent to make it look amazing!!

My daughter definitely got the entire family's musical and artistic talent. The rest of us don't play instruments or sing. I did act some while I was in high school, but nothing like what she does.

  2. So sorry for the loss of your Aunt and your husband's great-grandma. That is so awesome that he got to know both his granny and his great. Loved the 5 generations pictures. Don't see many of those. I have never heard of fuzzy polish. Will have to find some for Harley. She loves doing her nails.

    1. I love the 5 generations picture too. It's very special to us. You don't see them very often. I am glad Elexis got to meet her great great grandma. We didn't get to spend much time with her over the years. She lives in Arkansas. I got my Fuzzy polish from Target. It's on sale this week. Harley will love it. Elexis can't wait to paint her nails next week. She can't this week because of the musical.
