Since I am currently a parent to a 13 year old girl; we have now entered battlefield category. When she doesn't want to do something and we do want her to do it; she gets a bit stubborn (I have NO idea where she gets this from...oh yeah, me. I have tons more years of experience than her though). After many words discussed and lots of foot stomping and whining; it gets done. Elexis for the most part is a highly respectful kid; especially to other people. She knows though, that I am her parent first and her friend second. She knows that when she is punished that I do it out of love and to keep her safe. She has disrespected me on a few occasions (usually the only thing she really gets in trouble for). I know she does it to push her boundaries and all teens go through it. She has been popped in the mouth (not rough, just to get attention) when she sasses or is rude. I've only done that twice. But, like I said, Elexis is a good kid. We taught her manners and respect from when she was very young.
I don't think that kids today get nearly enough discipline. They are disrespectful not only to their parents, but strangers as well. I have been known to parent a child not my own in a store. Not setting boundaries with your kids leads to disrespect. This will cause them major problems down the road in their adult lives. Manners and respect go a long way in life.
I am working on a post about everything Music Man. I already miss it.
Photo Day 19: Currently reading - Just one of the books I am reading. It was the closest one.
Coincidentally I used Lightroom 5 to edit this! Ha!
