Day 28: Something that you miss
I feel I have talked about how much I miss my grandma a lot (you can find here and here. I am going to get a little more creative on this on. Here are a few things I miss.
- Burples - My favorite was the peach. I don't know why these didn't stick around. They were so much fun
- I miss my stonewashed jean jacket and matching jean purse.
- My Strawberry Shortcake Lamp with nightlight. I found one on ebay!! Sadly I do not think I am going to spend $40 on it.
- My paper dolls. I would spend hours and hours playing with these things.
- Saturday Morning Cartoons and weekday after school Cartoons: Flintstones, Jetsons, ShirtTails, Get Along Gang, Muppet Babies, Thunder Cats, Wuzzles, Pound Puppies, Smurfs, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Duck Tails, Tail Spin.... ahhh, the good old days (at least for this 80's/90's generation kid). Cartoons weren't on all day on specific channels like they are now days.
Of course I miss important people that have passed on, but I know I will see them again someday.
Photo Day 28: Red
Round Barn in Arcadia, OK. It's red.
This is part of Paula's June Blog Challenge.
Join us in July for the July Blog Challenge.
I like the prompts every day. It gives me inspiration and keeps me blogging on a regular basis. I cannot believe that it is already almost July.
Sounds like you miss your childhood! It must have been a good one. I love the picture of the red barn!
ReplyDeleteI do kind of miss my childhood. No responsibilities and sleeping late...the good ole days.
DeleteOh, and that barn is on Route 66. One spring break, Elexis and I drove Route 66 to see the Blue Whale of Catoosa...
DeleteI miss old cartoons like The Pink Panther and Tom and Jerry. I don't get some of the cartoons on television these days.
ReplyDeleteI love the Pink Panther. Elexis watches Tom and Jerry when it comes on Cartoon Network. That's the only thing she watches on there. I can't stand cartoons now.
DeleteOMG! hehehe I used to spend hours on paper dolls as well. :D I also miss my denim jackets.... *sigh*....
ReplyDeletePaper dolls were awesome!!! So much easier to get dressed than real barbies...even though their clothes would fall off easily. Denim Jackets now just aren't the same...
Deletehad to google to see what burples are haha
ReplyDeleteI used to have so many sailor moon paper dolls, I loved those :)
Burples were a little before your time. They didn't last long, but we had tons of those bottles. Those are what I really miss. They were fun to turn into water gun tools. I love paper dolls. I wonder if they still make them.
DeleteOh, I love your take on this one! I, too, miss my grandmother madly! :( She was my best friend! (another parallel. I'm seriously thinking we were separated at birth)
ReplyDeleteWhat the heck is a burple?
I believe we were separated at birth. :) A burple is a kool aid mix that was in an accordion type container. When you purchased them they were all squished down and you pulled them up to drink them. The real fun is after the drink. you filled with water, and used the accordion action to turn it into an awesome water gun tool.
DeleteOKay... I NEVER KNEW you replied to my comments on your posts (sorry). I don't get any kind of e-mail notification so if I don't remember to check, it looks like I'm ignoring you (sorry,I'm not... just don't generally go trolling through comments checking for replies!) :)
DeleteI can't believe I've never heard of a Burple! I TOTALLY would love one of those (NOW!)
I think you can find anything on Ebay and yes, I am doing July too !
ReplyDeleteYay! I have loved getting to know you Lisa. One of these days I hope to get to visit you in Australia. And yes, I think you can pretty much find anything on Ebay.
