Day 11: Kids these days!
They don't realize that we once lived without the internet or computers or iPods, or cell phones. I was just telling my husband this morning that remember how we used to have to wait for dial up connection. You clicked on the connect button and went and got dressed, do your hair, prepare a 4 course meal and come back and your at the end stages of the connection. Don't even get me started on the frustration of being 'kicked off line' because someone picked up the extension.
Oh, and we also were taught cursive in third grade and had to write all of our papers all the way through high school in cursive (and sometimes in ink!).
Ahhh, the good ole days.
I remember all of that, too!
ReplyDeleteIt seems so long ago, but it wasn't. At least that is what I keep telling myself.
DeleteI never ever had dial up. Hooked right up to cable but have only had a computer the last 10 years! And they have stopped teaching cursive in our school system. Can you believe that?
ReplyDeleteI know! It's sad. I remember learning to write a check in 7th grade and kids aren't even learning that anymore either. It so sad.
DeleteBWAHAHAHAHA! The joys of dialup. Man oh man. My dad and I joke when the computers start lagging that they're "dial-up slow". So... wait... are they not teaching cursive anymore?! o_O That was a REQUIREMENT. Back in MY day..... gyah.... lol
ReplyDeleteHahahaha!! That is what started the discussion this morning because the internet was being slow. I even used the words "dial-up slow" Nope, no cursive anymore. Now it is keyboard skills, they really aren't even teaching typing just computers. We have officially crossed over into the 'back in my day'. Remember when we had corded phones?!
DeleteUhm.... how are they supposed to sign their names without cursive? >_> A very disturbing trend indeed.
DeleteI know! My poor daughter's handwriting still looks the same from Kindergarden and First Grade. She never learned penmanship (that and her dad has horrible handwriting).
