Day 13: Holiday pet peeves. Everyone's got at least one. What's yours?
I hate that stores are trying to make Christmas earlier and earlier. I start seeing Christmas trees in July (Hobby Lobby) and ornaments too. As if that isn't bad enough, now Black Friday is BEFORE Thanksgiving?? And it really gets to me when the stores opened on Thanksgiving. That is crossing the line. Retail and consumers are taking the meaning out of Christmas. It has become another commercialized holiday (hello Valentine's Day...I'm talking to you...). I start celebrating Christmas after Thanksgiving and stop New Year's Day (sometimes I can't even wait that long to get my tree down and everything back in it's place).
Also, please don't get offended when I say Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays to you. You can tell me Happy/Merry...whatever you celebrate. I won't get offended. And don't write xmas. That's just lazy. It would be like me writing xy for my name...hahaha!!!
Ok...rant over. I guess I will try to go get my Christmas spirit from where ever it is hiding. I am just not feeling it this year. I need to go bake something...haha.
I see we agree on this! I hope you find your Christmas soon...or you will miss it!
ReplyDeleteIt's getting there. :)
DeleteBlack Friday is before Thanksgiving?? I do agree that starting it earlier and earlier is annoying!
ReplyDeleteIt started before Thanksgiving this year. It's getting out of hand.
DeleteI don't get offended when people say "Merry Christmas" until they get offended when I say "Happy Holidays". There is more than one in the month of December and it's not Christmas until the 25th.
ReplyDeletePeople get offended way to easily these days. Come on people, toughen up! ha.
