Fears

Day 21 - My biggest fear

I have a few.  My number one fear is losing my child.  I don't know if I could ever take losing her through kidnapping or death.  I am very paranoid of people around my child.  I am afraid of bad people doing bad things to children.  I have taught my daughter about safety and I am always vigilant.

I also am afraid of being trapped.  I don't like when people block entrances or exits.  I don't do elevators or escalators.  So therefore, enclosed spaces are not a good place for me, especially if they are crowded.  I don't mind crowds in general as long as I have an escape.

I have a small phobia of flying (the being trapped thing), and I hate ladders.  Heights aren't a problem for me and I will climb a million stairs to see some awesome views, just don't ask me to get on a ladder and change a light bulb.

  1. I don't LIKE to fly but not afraid of it. I don't like it mostly because I'm a complete control freak... I've surrendered all control to the person in this big huge container of jet fuel. It's enough to send ya over the edge... so I try not to think about it but to think about my destination.

I have nightmares all the time of something happening to my kids. I don't know if that's a fear or just ???? something else. I guess that could be a fear but it's not one specific thing... I have dreams where I"ll wake up sobbing because someone has taken my youngest and we're searching for him everywhere. It's GUT WRENCHING!

    1. I completely agree with you on the whole being a control freak. I barely like to be the passenger in a car, let alone a 2 ton jet.

I have had a few of those nightmares. I hate them! I usually can't go back to sleep. I feel so badly for all of those parents that have missing children; their nightmare is never ending.

    1. I don't like that feeling. It's hard being a Mama.

  3. I don't like to fly either. And, I do FEAR it. I fear knowing the plane is crashing while it is crashing. I take Ativan to fly. Makes me worry less. I always feared the unknown with my kids. Dying is one thing, but not knowing what happened to them is a great fear of mine too.

    1. I probably should take something when I fly, I usually just white-knuckle it. I do have a small ritual I do by asking God to bless the plane as I am getting on. I also say extra prayers at takeoff and landing. When I am in the air, I am usually fine.

I hate the fear of the unknown!

  4. Small planes are scary! I've flown in a Cessna before, what was I thinking?! Now I can't even get in a 30-seater!

    1. I don't think I would be able to get into one of those. My husband wants to learn to be a pilot and I told him that there is no way I could get into a teeny tiny plane even if was the pilot. I don't blame you for not being able to get into small aircraft. They are scary!

  5. I totally forgot to add fear of heights to my list. I'm definitely with you on that one. I got on the roof one day and absolutely panicked. It was a 1 story, so I was maybe 8 feet away from the ground, lol.
