Day 11 - Last Book I Read

Day 11 - Last Book I Read

I kind of want to change my post title to "Books I am Currently Reading" or "In Book Limbo".  Since I finished the Janet Evanovich series and the Sue Grafton series, I really haven't been able to sink in to anything else.  I start books and lose interest.  I am ope to title suggestions.  I will read pretty much anything.  A friend has let me borrow the Fifty Shades book, but I don't really have an interest in reading it.  Last year, as a family, we read the Hunger Game series.

Right now I am reading Bringing Up Girls by Dr. James Dodson.  I am not too far into it.  I probably should have read it a few years ago seems how my daughter is approaching thirteen in a little more than a month.  I am thinking of returning it to find a book on how-not-to-have-your-teenage-daughter-hate-your-guts book.  I am also re-reading The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch.  I love this book.  Every time I start to lose focus on life, I pull out this book and read his farewell.  I already know I am going to cry through most of the book so I have a box of tissues handy.

I am an avid reader.  I have always loved to read.  I also am glad that my daughter loves to read (so much that her punishments often include being grounded from reading).

So if you have any book suggestions I am open to them.  I will give anything a chance.

I am participating in March 31 Day Blog Challenge over at Fabulous Finds by Tiffany.  Go read what others have to say.

  1. Not sure if you're into this fantasy genre, but if you are I really suggest the series "A Song of Ice and Fire". It's the book series that the HBO show Game of Thrones is based on. They are phenomenal books!

    1. Thanks, I will definitely check it out. I am willing to give most books a chance. Are they inappropriate at all? My daughter might want to read them too.

  2. My favorite series of books from all time were the Clan of the Cave Bear Series....huge books. Takes a lot of time to read. But worth it! My grand daughter (just turned 13 and lives with us) spends a lot of time reading too, when grounded.

    1. I love series books, though I get sad when I get to the end of the series and I feel like I have lost my best friend. I will definitely check them out.

  4. What kind of books are you into? Light reads or the heavier stuff? Little Bee by Chris Cleave was amazing. Very heart wrenching but very grounding and eye opening. Lunch in Paris is a bit lighter but both a vacation and culinary experience in a book :)

    1. Both sound really good. I already added Lunch in Paris to my list after reading your blog. Now I am going to add Little Bee. My books are like my music...a little bit of everything all over the place. lol :) I am picking up Lunch in Paris today from my library. Thanks for the other recommendation as well.
