I decided to change it up a little on my blog. Since I am no longer working with the theatre crowd; I am no longer around a stage. I decided to go with Cristy's Crazy Corner. This may change because right now I am just "ehh" about it. I do like the new color scheme though.
My husband has been out of town all week. He went to San Francisco for an Oracle convention. I am ready to have him home. Elexis and I have been doing the single girls thing all week (not that we did anything that we wouldn't do if he were here). He got to see some cousins up there (the same ones that I wrote about here plus a few more). This is like his 5th or 6th time to go. At the end of the end of the conference, there is always a big concert. Previous years he has seen (and been extremely close to) Aerosmith, Black Eyed Peas, Sting, Billy Joel and a few others. This year I was extremely jealous that I didn't get to go, because the concert was Maroon 5. I love Maroon 5. My husband tolerated them at best. Now he is a fan. Yay!
I took Elexis and her best friend to their first high school football game for their school. They have been to a high school game before, but it was for my brother's school. We left at half time, but our team was ahead. I love high school football. I love going to games. I hope we get to go to many more. We are hoping to go see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 this weekend. We are going to wait for my husband to get back though.
Anyway...leave thoughts on the new blog design and name. I am open to suggestions...

Monday, September 23, 2013
It has certainly been a Monday...
I very rarely have "Mondays". You know the day that seems stacked against you. Today, I had a Monday! It started with me turning my alarm off and sleeping until 5 minutes past when I normally leave to take Elexis to school. I got her up and ready and out the door in 7 minutes. I couldn't believe it. She was not late for school which was a big bonus.
The rest of my day pretty uneventful. I went and played dominos with Granny. Got caught up on all my elderly population gossip (not from her, but others around her). I went to the gym and the grocery store. I did get stuck behind the lady in the express 15 items or less lane who had an entire basket full of stuff (yeah, slightly annoyed by that). Picked Elexis up from school.
On Monday evenings; she has an extra orchestra (besides the honor orchestra she just got in to). It's across the city so we usually leave the house 45 minutes to an hour early. She has to be there by 5:45. We are usually there by 5:25 if we leave at 4:50. Well today I missed my first turn...no big deal there are several streets that I could turn on to get me to the same place. Well, the next street I decided to turn. Big mistake. I got caught by the train crossing. A slow moving train comes through, and it gets slower, and slower and finally stops! Right in the middle of the road. I am still in my groove because I knew we left in plenty of time. Well the train started backing up...ahhh!! Finally it gets off the road and we can pass. I turn down the street I needed to be on that would take me all the way to the school. We go another mile and I am noticing 3 helicopters hovering a little further ahead of me. I knew they were news choppers and I commented to Elexis that something big must have happened. Yep, something big happened all right, another mile and I happen upon a really big wreck involving an empty school bus and I am guessing some other cars. Well of course there is a huge line of traffic, it's 5 o'clock. Luckily, I am going the opposite direction of the traffic. But, I was diverted to a different road which would take me 2 miles out of my way. Still no big deal, except I get behind the sllllowwwwest driver ever! I swear we went 10 miles per hour down the entire two miles. So finally I get around her and I happen to turn around and look in the back seat...where the cello should be. So I ask Elexis, "Um, did you forget something important??" She forgot her cello at home!! She was trying to get her math finished and forgot her cello. I had to turn around and go get the cello. She cannot miss these rehearsals because after two absences she will be kicked out of the orchestra and we already paid the fees. I haul some serious booty home. I mean I am weaving and breaking all kinds of speed limits. My hour window is now 25 minutes. She runs in and grabs the cello and I take the interstate (which is kind of out of my way) to the college. She made it at 5:45 on the dot! I couldn't believe it. Did I break a few traffic laws to do it? Yes, I did and I am darn lucky there were no cops, but I knew a lot of them were at the wreck with the school bus. Elexis had a good rehearsal.
After rehearsal, Elexis was extremely thirsty so we decided to stop at a gas station to get something to drink. We were talking about how weird the day has been and I totally almost walked out of the store without paying for my drink. Elexis was like "mom, are you going to pay for that??" The cashier laughed because she had heard our conversation about the day. After I got finished paying another one of the workers heard everything too and he looks down at my feet and says, "your shoes are tied together". I was wearing flip flops. Did I look?? Yes! Did he laugh? Yes. Did I have a good story? Yes!
Wake me when it is Tuesday. I don't trust myself around any heavy machinery today...haha!
Here are a couple of pictures. Oh, and my husband was on CNBC today. He is at a conference and they happened to be filming live.

My husband is the one in sunglasses. He waved to me in another shot. I DVRed it for him.
That would be the stopped train.

My life in a nutshell right now
I am so sorry I have been gone so long. I really don't have excuses just busy. My sleep schedule hasn't been all that great either. Insomnia is kicking my butt. I usually get about 4 hours of sleep a night and that is not making good productive days. Even on the weekends I am usually up by 7. Anyway, here's life in high's and low's.
Low's:
Elexis got sick on Thursday. She started running a fever and her throat hurt. Went to the doc on Friday and she tested negative for strep, flu and mono so it's just a bad sinus infection (yay)
We finally got my pug spayed. We tried breeding her (my mom and a couple of my friends wanted little Delilah's of their own), but it never took. It broke my heart dropping her off because she is such a happy dog.
I think a lot of my insomnia comes from anxiety. I need to get some stuff settled and maybe I will sleep better.
My car is officially out of warranty. Last week, right before it rolled over to 120,000 miles, I went and had about $900 worth of work done on it. Our extended warranty has more than paid for itself.
I finally went to the dentist after 2 years. I had two crowns and a filling and I go back for another filling at the end of the month. My new dentist is super nice and so is his staff. My family and I love him. He even gave us a gift card to the movies and his dental assistant says he never does that. I guess the feeling was mutual.
High's:
Elexis is feeling much better. So is my pug - she has way more energy.
On Saturday morning my daughter auditioned for the Oklahoma Honor Chamber Orchestra (OCHO) and got 3rd chair in cellos. I am sooooo soooo proud of her. She has been preparing for this all summer. Next audition is National Honor Chamber Orchestra...crossing our fingers.
I have finally started working on my table that I am stripping and refinishing. All the old paint is off. I am now cleaning it and sanding it. I got half of it done. I will get it done this week. I have determination.
I went to Disney On Ice! I love DOI. This is Elexis and I's 12th year going together. Sometimes my husband joins us, but it is usually just us. I love it. It's a good bonding over all things Disney.
I also stopped procrastinating on a couple of other things as well. Yay for productivity. Next stop: catching up on all your blogs. Get ready to be bombarded by comments from me.
Here are some middle's
I still haven't made a decision on schooling yet. I am afraid it is going to be too much and I don't want to overwhelm myself.
I have still been walking the zoo at least 3 times a week, but I need to get my butt back to the gym.
I promise that I will start being a better blogger (I need to find another challenge). I will start posting more on all your blogs. I have missed all you girls though.
How about some random pictures?

Oklahoma Firefighter's Museum
I went to the Oklahoma Firefighter's Museum on Friday. I pass by it all the time when I go to the zoo, so I decided to stop in and visit it. I want to do that with more museums in my city. It was quite interesting. I saw the evolution of the fireman suit and definite evolution of the fire trucks (even from when they started out as wagons). I learned that the dalmatian is associated with firehouses because they are the most in tune with horses (way back in the day of horse drawn). And they are not particularly friendly dogs (sorry 101 Dalmatian fans), so they would run ahead to clear the street. The museum is ran by current firefighters. The day I went was a great day. My fireman was HOT! He was great to talk to as well. Turns out his grandpa was a fireman at the station right around the corner from my house and his mom teaches at the high school my daughter will be going to. He is a fireman in Moore (where the tornado happened). He said that 99% of his calls are first response calls and not house fires. He has been a firefighter for two years and has gone to three house fires. I really learned a lot and I am definitely glad I went. Here are some pictures of my adventure. Oh, and I was a hot sweaty mess from just walking three miles at the zoo, so the air conditioning felt great.
These are a few of my favorites.

I'm back!
I took a little self imposed hiatus. I needed it to recharge my batteries. I will finish out the food challenge from last month as soon as I get my pictures edited. I loved doing it. But, it inadvertently made my husband gain weight (what can I say, I like making desserts). He is on a health kick now to lose about 15 pounds. So, mostly healthy stuff for a while. Hopefully I can make healthy stuff pretty. I decided to just take on a weekly challenge this month. I am going to find something good on Pinterest and make it and take pictures of it. Not sure yet if I am going to limit it just to food. If you have any suggestions, send them my way. I am up for the challenge.
Labor Day weekend: I stayed home. My family went and had fun at the lake with my parents and I didn't. They had a great time riding wave runners, swimming and tubing. I had a good time doing laundry, yard work, laundry, watching my cousin sing the National Anthem at a rodeo, laundry, helping my Mother in law pick out a puppies and helping her potty train these puppies (PUPPIES!!) and did I mention laundry?? I think I did 15 loads and I still don't think it is all finished. I washed everything washable in our house. Then when my family came back home....lake (gross) laundry.
Puppies: As I mentioned my MIL got the cutest little puppies. I am talking adorable off the scales. She got a female Yorkie-poo. Over the past 4 months my MIL had to put two of her three animals to sleep due to old age. She decided to get a puppy. Well this puppy whined all night, so she decided it needed a playmate so they can keep each other company (Granny, who lives with my MIL has a chihuahua that doesn't want anything to do with the puppies). So she went the next day and got the cutest little ball of fluff shih-tzu. He is a male. Their names are Sophie and Dusty. They are ADORABLE! Since it has been the two of them, they sleep at night instead of whine. They are the same age so they play great together. I love these puppies. I have been helping my MIL out by going over and taking them outside every two hours while she is at work. Believe me, it is not a burden on me because I get to play and cuddle with these babies.
School for Elexis is going very well. We have had open house and got to hear what all the teachers have planned for the kids (I also found out why I had to send 6 rolls of scotch tape for science...such a waste). Elexis has been going to every before and after school practice for her cello. She starts her private lessons back next week. She really wants to make these two honor orchestras. I know she can do it, because she is determined. She also has been going to a youth group at a church we have been trying out. She is loving that! I pick up her cousin and we eat chick fil a. I drop them off and I head to the gym. All of our after school activities start back next week. I like it because she stays busy and doesn't just sit around. Any time she wants to drop something, we will let her (as long as she finishes to the end though...no quitting in the middle). This is the first time in three years we have not done musical theatre. I am kind of sad about it, but mostly relieved. I will still try to help out with costumes if they will let me.
I guess I will end this for now. I have really missed all of you. I do not plan on letting so long go between posts.
